Fabrika
Sergei Loznitsa, Russia, experimental, 30 min., 2004
Fabrika takes us into the midnight interior of an industrial factory in Russia. Beautifully composed photography renders dialogue unnecessary. The camera’s eye edges through the factory’s belly with a gentle, quiet presence that guides you through the production process. By the film’s end, you’ll almost reach to rub the soot and smoke from your skin. – M.S.L
Sergei Loznitsa is one of Russia’s most renowned poetic documentary filmmakers. He has been filming Russians in a myriad of social conditions in Today We Are Going to Build a House, Life, Autumn, and The Settlement. In his words, people “are falling out of time”.
