Fire Water Wood
Kathy-Ann March, Canada, documentary, 15 min., 2004
World Premiere
This is an idiosyncratic journey into some of the concerns of the reforestation industry. Kathy March uses her own experience as a treeplanter in British Columbia to score the story. At first the divergent points seem impulsive, but the whole plays out like a soul-search mediated by instinct that delivers personal and political discoveries. – M.S.L
Kathy-Ann March is a member of Vancouver's Video In community of media artists. She was a treeplanter in British Columbia in the early '80s and returned to northern BC in 1999, to capture the story of the early years of British Columbia’s reforestation program. Kathy-Ann is presently working on a short video drama entitled Strathcona's Kiss.
