Noah’s Ark
Soudabeh Babagap, Iran, experimental, 26 min., 2003

Canadian Premiere

Noah’s Ark is a visual poem of loss, memory and recovery in the aftermath of war. Iranians who lost their ships in the missile attacks of the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) still search for their “lost children”. Many of the iron hulks were sunk in the Persian Gulf, others anchor half-broken in the still waters. Loss echoes on loss, and layers to a lament that mourns the wrecks of war. – M.S.L

Soudabeh Babagap’s poetical works have been published in Selection of Works of Iranian Poets and Iranian Painters. She has also lectured on Poetical Documentary Cinema and Iranian documentary movies. She was one of the managers of the 1st Iranian Women Documentary Filmmakers’ Film Week.
