(Mandarin with subtitles)

World Premiere

Deep in the lush, remote forest of Eastern Taiwan, the Paiwan Indigenous community are threatened by a proposed development of an expressway through their tribal land and an ancestral burial site. Determined to protect their land and their heritage, the community elects Ahronglong Sakinu to venture to the capital, Taipei, to meet authorities, with the mission of changing their minds about the planned development. The mission leads to the chance encounter with a sceptical government official. Beginning with a step back in time, the story is based on the best selling book about the traditional upbringing and values, of tribal leader and forest ranger Sakinu, now a famous indigenous leader, who plays himself in the film. Shen-Shi Peng renowned Taiwanese actor, plays the government official. A humorous and heart-warming film which is sure to entertain, educate and inspire. – R.S.
