Where there is No Water
Jonathan Muller, Dominican Republic/USA, documentary, 22 min., 2005
(Spanish with subtitles)
An island nation with a water shortage is the grim irony of today’s global economy. A mix of politics, faulty engineering, geography and economics are cited as the root of the problem in a small town in the Dominican Republic that is facing a water shortage. This documentary looks at the water scarcity issue from the point of view of local residents – farmers, shop keepers, housewives and youth. The residents of Oviedo speak candidly about the root of the problem and offer grounded solutions. – M.S.L
