Abandoning his life's work, a writer turns his Manhattan apartment into a 'Noah's ark' filled with 1200 endangered turtles. As his passion turns into an enterprise, an epic tale unfolds, creating a new breed of dramatic nature film featuring time, death, love...and turtles.
Richard Ogust had abandoned his writing career to shelter over 1200 endangered species of turtles he saved in his Manhattan apartment. But this is only the beginning. Evicted from his apartment, Ogust must secure funding and a location for an institute dedicated to his animals. Time is running out, and if Ogust can't build the institute he will have to find another home for the turtles. Isolated and exhausted, Ogust's strength, dedication and determination are his only companions; he is isolated, fearful and he questions his decision to dedicate the better part of his life to this cause.
In a struggle that is so brilliantly and thoughtfully realized, The Chances of the World Changing is exceptionally beautiful storytelling. It is not just a film about one man's conservation mission, but about the idea that our efforts and what they represent may be all we have to effect change.
