Whale Mission: Keepers of Memory
Caroline Underwood & Jean Lemire, Canada, documentary, 60min, 2005
Decimated by whaling in the 19th and 20th centuries, the northern right whale is the planet’s most endangered large whale species - fewer than 350 remain. Far from the coast, this vast watery wilderness still conceals many mysteries and maybe some new whales. Could they be the key to the future of right whales, possibly providing clues to the survival of the species?
Co-Director Caroline Underwood will be in attendance along with other science and whale experts to add to a fascinating post screening discussion.
