• Present cultural perspectives that are under-represented in Canada and across the globe.
• Premiere at our festival as a World, Canadian or Toronto Premiere
• Screen in our children’s and school program.

2010 Spotlight: Biodiversity

In addition to our regular environmental film program, Planet in Focus curates a special program each year that addresses one particular theme. In our 11th Anniversary year we are interested in inspiring works that focus on Biodiversity. The UN has declared 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity. Throughout the world, a range of events will celebrate, raise awareness and shed light on the critical issues surrounding the state of biodiversity on our planet, species at risk and conservation measures. Planet in Focus, is interested in gripping visual stories that will examine this topic in a range of ecosystems, including our cities, water systems, oceans, deserts, forests, mountains, the impact of climate change on the biodiversity of our planet and the people who are contributing to our knowledge and awareness of the issues. This spotlight will present a minimum of ten works that will illuminate the subject in a myriad of cinematic forms.
