In the fall of 1985, Haida elders and young warriors from the villages of Massett and Skidegate travelled by boat and by plane to Lyell Island in Haida Gwaii. They stood and faced logging trucks and crummies, loggers and process servers, the police and the media -- and they captured the attention of the world. This is their story.
