THE LAST STAND is a spirited film hosted by Edward Asner with music by Joni Mitchell, Kenny Loggins and Joe Walsh which centers on the politics, players and environmental issues in the debate over preservation and development at one of the last remaining wetlands ecosystems in Southern California.

The film includes environmentalists, development advocates, labour unionists, native Americans, politicians, actors, scientists, and filmmakers set against the backdrop of Hollywood.
Dramatic actions include Martin Sheen chaining the developers' doors, a hunger strike, an activist stopping a bulldozer, and more recently the excavation of native American remains at development sites.
The film covers solutions such as the recent acquisition of over 500 acres at the Ballona wetlands and successful efforts to save other threatened natural areas.
