Living Amidst the Pine Beetle

This documentary examines the environmental, social and economic impacts of the mountain pine beetle for British Columbia. The current infestation is unprecedented in scale and is directly linked to climate change and fire suppression. The insight and stories of key decision-makers, academics and community members are presented to show how the infestation affects almost every single person in the interior of BC somehow. A looming environmental catastrophe and the coming economic fall down are of greatest concern to many of those interviewed. This is one of the first real manifestations of climate change in Canada and suggests that Canadians face enormous challenges in the near future.
