At 7.300 meters the "Death Zone" starts. The oxygen content is so low that the body functions deteriorates: The heart beats faster, non-essential body functions are shut down and staying longer than necessary will result in loss of consciousness and ultimately, death. In this area Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner feels at home. Eight of fourteen Eightthousander she has climbed already, always without oxygen-mask and fixing ropes. That makes her the most successful female mountaineer ever. Now she is on her way to the ninth summit: The Kangchenzonga, fifth highest peak of the earth, is the holiest and most dangerous Eightthousander. The 37-years old Austrian is taking the risk and starts an expedition to the top.
