During the 42 years I have been advising governments in Africa, Asia and Latin America on population policies and family planning programs, the world's population has more than doubled from 3 to 6.4 billion and is headed towards 9 to 13 billion. With a film crew under the direction of documentary filmmaker Michael Tobias, we shot 242 hours of film in India, the Netherlands, Thailand, Italy, Indonesia, Iran, China, Nigeria, Ghana, Mexico, and the United States, chronicling the actions that are taking place to achieve population stabilization. From environmental deterioration to zero-based fossil fuel economies, from the AIDS pandemic to lifting 3 billion people out of poverty, from rapid urbanization to the potential of global warming, the film both informs and entertains.
