Ochre and Water

Craig Matthew & Joelle Chesselet
South Africa, documentary, 2001
55 mins. (Beta)

The film traces a journey into the memory and landscape of the nomadic Himba people of the arid Northern Namibia. Guided by their oral history and rich ancestral tradition they resist the development of a dam scheme that will destroy their world forever. Confronted with the completeness of their existence, the film poses questions about first world development and our own fragmented modern world.
