Olive Dickason - Metis, journalist, academic, mother of three - rose from humble beginnings and overcame great lifelong struggles to write the first textbooks about Canadian Aboriginal history. Through her work she introduced Aboriginal history as an academic discipline, providing an Aboriginal point of view to the study of Canadian history.
