Entirely set in the serene landscape of Iceland, Shifting explores two different facets of global warming and how Iceland is affected. This project begins with an introduction of Iceland's most iconic bird, the puffin, and explains the struggles it faces with global warming and climate change. The project incorporates a parallel story that focuses on the work of geo-physicists in Iceland to combat global warming and oil dependence using natural alternative energies. One of the world's foremost alternative energy experts explains Iceland's newest initiative to bring the country completely out of the oil market by the year 2050 and replace the fossil fuel with clean-burning hydrogen. The two stories carry the theme of Shifting energy sources: for the puffin, there is no alternative to the depleting fish it requires, but for humans, there may be another option.
