Siberian jays live in the wild coniferous forests of the north. They are closely related to crows although they are only about the size of a pigeon. Siberian jays are most commonly found in unspoilt forests with small natural clearings, marshy hollows and ancient spruce trees draped with beard moss. Local people have many affectionate nicknames for these sociable birds.
