'Sofia For Now' is the coming-of-age story of a 17-year-old Latina girl named Sofia who is searching for her mother in the city of Pittsburgh. Sofia is looking for her mom whom she believed had died in a tragic car accident many years back. After the incident, nothing has ever been the same for this young girl. She has been abused by the men in her life and upon discovering that her mother could potentially still be alive, she heads on a journey to find her. Along the way, she meets and befriends an African American family who take Sofia in as their own and aid her in the search. Sofia grows and learns more about herself, her fears, and the true meaning of family.
