After being engulfed in the cloud of debris during the rescue efforts on 9/11, Det. Vito Friscia had the daunting task of sifting through toxic WTC rubble for many months at the Staten Island Landfill. He, along with thousands of others, developed health problems that lingered on after their work was done. Vito is a tough-guy homicide detective who rarely thinks of his own needs. His family, including filmmaker Pusateri, have to coax him to go through medical screenings where he, finally, has to face reality. A family man who was just "doing his job," what price he and others will pay for their bravery is a question that will remain unanswered for years to come.
