It is a poetic journey into the border area of the disbanded Soviet Union where imperial power is still intact, if only as an accompaniment to the dream like sound track that is a backdrop to the film's mix of fiction and strange, documentational moments. Christiaens has described his film in terms of Odysseus returning home after his exile and finding a completely new world where nothing is as it was before he left.
