Since the collapse of communism, the people of Gobi have had to be more self-reliant and women have emerged as leaders of new communities called Nukhalul's. The Nukhaluls accomplishments are inspiring others and spreading a grass roots democratic movement that is pioneering people centred conservation and empowering women.
