Unique to the city of Toronto, Youth Camera Action! is an environmental video production camp specifically designed for youth between the ages of 14 – 18 years. This action packed two week summer program is open to youth across the Greater Toronto Area and provides a unique and creative opportunity to learn about the environment, get practical, hands-on video making experience and create their own short environmental video projects. Completed projects premiere as part of the Green Sprouts Youth Filmmakers Showcase at the Planet in Focus International Environmental Film & Video Festival each fall. YCA films have also gone on to enjoy screenings at other youth film festivals throughout North America and have been broadcast on national television!

The eighth annual Youth! Camera! Action! Video Production Camp will run from August 11th to 22nd, 2008. Eligible applicants accepted on a first come first serve basis.

YCA 2008 CAMP DETAILS

Description: Week one, the camp will be divided into small groups and will acquire video-making skills (development, camera, sound, lighting) through a series of workshops and demonstrations.  Students will learn about the environment and explore ways of creatively and visually expressing environmental ideas and issues.  They will complete the week by shooting their videos around the city (with proper supervision).  Week two will be devoted to post production - editing and sound design!  We will finish the week by having a "premiere" of the works which will screen on Friday afternoon at Innis Town Hall.  Family and friends welcome.

When: 9:30-5pm, Monday through Friday, August 11 - 22, 2008 
Where: Week One at U of T’s Innis College (2 Sussex Ave.) & week two at Charles Street Video (TTC accessible)
Fee: $100 for the entire two weeks (Planet in Focus will offer subsidies for those requiring financial assistance.  If financial assistance is required, please indicate this on your application form.)
